About Chalet Polanka ...
This bright contemporary chalet was built in 2006/7, and combines modern conveniences such as underfloor heating with traditional Savoyard character.
Perched above the charming village of St-Jean-de-Sixt, just a two-minute drive away, Chalet Polanka enjoys fabulous views down the valley towards La Clusaz, and is in the perfect location for making the most of the Aravis mountains. The chalet has superb insulation, warm in the winter with sunshine throughout the day. In the summer, the chalt remains cool and confortable.
If you’re tired of staying in impersonal hotels in the concrete jungles of big ski resorts, you’ll really appreciate the trouble the owners have taken to make this chalet a home from home, using a unique blend of antiques and contemporary furniture, enhanced with their own art and accessories.

Sleeping up to 12 people (maximum 8 adults) in 5 bedrooms with 5 bathrooms, Chalet Polanka is ideal for several families or a large group of friends.
On the ground floor there's an open plan living area, dining table and kitchen, as well as a double bedroom, bathroom and laundry room.
On the next floor, the main open plan living area has a large dining table for communal meals and a cosy fireplace where you can catch up on the day’s news and plan the next. Underfloor heating means it’s always cosy when you come in from the cold, and in good weather, you can open the patio doors on to the large terrace, where you can watch the sun go down over the mountains. There's also a bedroom, bathroom and separate toilet on this floor suitable for persons with reduced mobility and easy access from the entrance.
The other bedrooms are upstairs - two doubles and a family room as well as a daybed on the landing. There are also two shower rooms and a bathroom. From the main bredroom, there is a charming mezzanine for children to have a little den of their own.
The two well-equipped kitchens make it easy to cook a quick supper for the kids while making dinner for the rest of the party, or perhaps for two families staying together. The two living rooms and two dining areas mean you need never feel crowded, and kids have a choice of outside spaces where they can let off steam and play safely.
People working from home can find quite areas uninterrupted by other activities. Not overlooked from any direction. Privacy and safety maintained troughout electric shutters for confort.
About the area ...
Situated halfway between the ski stations of La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand, Chalet Polanka is in the perfect position to enjoy the best of the skiing in the Aravis mountains.
It’s just a five-minute drive to the ski lifts, and the ski bus stops in the village, just a couple of minutes away. There’s great terrain for cross-country skiers too.
Non-skiers will find plenty to keep them occupied, with a heated indoor/outdoor swimming pool, ice skating rink and cinema, as well as sledging, snow-shoe walking, dog-sledding and horse-drawn sleigh rides. Thrill-seekers should head for the Bun-J-Ride in St-Jean-de-Sixt – a unique mixture of ski-jumping and bungee jumping that’s not for the faint-hearted!
Whatever the season, Chalet Polanka is the perfect base for enjoying life in the Aravis mountains. In the spring and summer, there's no shortage of walks from the door, from mountain trails to hiking on the Gliéres plateau, the scene of the Resistance’s campaign in World War II.
Adrenalin junkies are well catered for too, with paragliding, canyoning, climbing, via ferrata, mountain-biking and white-water rafting just some of the activities on offer within a few miles of St-Jean-de-Sixt.
Whatever you do, you will be glad to get back to Chalet Polanka at the end of the day, where you can enjoy a pre-dinner drink on the terrace and perhaps a barbecue while you relax and soak up the evening sun.

This is the best chalet out of quite a few in which we have stayed. Extremely well-appointed, comfortable, and spotless. Perfectly maintained. Local manager always available if needed (we didn't), but she checked on us by messages to make sure we had final access info and about departure, but with no pressure. The owner also made contact as she was there immediately before us. More helpful information was given, with an impression that she wanted everything to be right. All in all, most highly recommended.

Saint Jean de Sixt - La Clusaz
Often overlooked in favour of its larger neighbours, La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand, Saint-Jean-de Sixt is a delightful, family-friendly village at the heart of the Aravis ski area.
Just 3km from both La Clusaz in one direction and Le Grand Bornand in the other, and well connected by ski buses, you’ll have easy access to some great skiing.

“I fell in love with the Alps after being a frequent tenant of an elderly French/English couple - the man was a brigadier general who was still skiing at the age of 94!
The La Clusaz area is beautiful, whatever the time of year. Of course it’s gorgeous in the snow, but it’s also wonderful in the spring, when the meadows fill with flowers and you can hear the cow bells.
In summer, you can enjoy the fabulous weather, stunning sunsets and the star-filled skies, and in autumn you can hunt for mushrooms, and pick up wonderful local fruits in the village markets.
Chalet Polanka was built for us in 2006/2007 by specialist local tradesmen. It’s south-facing, and is surrounded by meadows above the village of St-Jean-de-Sixt.
We used the best materials - local oak for the staircase, reclaimed oak for the main floors and old stone and wood for the fireplace. The rooms are all spacious with high ceilings, and there are plenty of places where adults and children can find their own space.
One of my favourite areas is the ‘gin and tonic terrace’ next to the meadow - the perfect place to watch the sunset in the summer.
I hope you will enjoy and respect Chalet Polanka as the family home that we have created with our own treasures and hopefully, after a well-earned rest here, you will decide to visit us again soon.
